“When trust is high, relative to fear, people and people systems function well. When fear is high, relative to trust, they break down.”

Jack Gibb

“We have been so busy perfecting the means of travel that we have forgotten where we wanted to go.”

Join David Sibbet for an exploration of the origins of the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance Model® (Model) and System™. He will provide insight into this innovation and the reasons the System is now one of the standards in the field of team development.

This session will address:

  • Why it is important to have a shared language for teaming, and why the Model is so effective across all types of teams.
  • Why Jack Gibb’s sociological research is so important to understand, and how Team Performance links to Gibb’s TORI Model.
  • What is behind the 'bouncing ball' design of the TP Model and what are the Four Flows of Process?.
  • How the Model helps to understand the challenge of hybrid work.
  • The success factors that help shape the efficacy of the System in practice.

More About The Grove’s Team Performance System™

In 1980, David Sibbet was conducting a Group Graphics® workshop on the East Coast attended by Allan Drexler, who at the time was a very experienced team consultant specializing in matrix organizations. He was also an experienced group leader at National Training Labs and had co-developed a Gibb, Drexler, Weisbord Team Building Model that was key to his work.

David recognized that the initial stages of this model reflected the Theory of Process that he had been studying with Arthur M. Young, a physicist and mathematician. Young’s work articulated a theory of evolutionary process that integrated physics and metaphysics in one cosmological framework.

This theory provided the basis for organizing The Grove’s Group Graphics® Keyboard and graphic facilitation trainings. Two years of intensive exchange with Allan resulted in the emergence and testing of the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance Model®.
