A Model of Facilitation Mapped Against Group Challenges

Facilitation is the art of leading people through processes toward agreed-upon outcomes—in ways that elicit participation, ownership, and creativity from all involved. In simple terms it includes those skills and practices involved in leading group process.

The Grove Facilitation Model™ illustrates, in a suggested order, the seven clusters of facilitation strategies that support working with group challenges reflected in the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance Model®. This model is our roadmap for facilitating in-person and virtual meetings. We apply visual practices to these stages to create engaging meetings.

The Grove Facilitation Model helps shape an agenda and sequential facilitation moves to help a group achieve its meeting outcomes. A skilled facilitator not only has to guide the group through the seven stages of this model, but has to tend to the Four Flows for successful facilitation: Attention, Energy, Information and Operations.
