Erik Rolland, Ph.D.

Senior Consultant

Dr. Erik Rolland is senior consultant with The Grove Consultants International.  He supports leaders in developing excellence in their organizations through his passion for making people and organizations better.

Dr. Rolland’s focus is on strategic visioning and innovation, and he brings diverse perspectives from global experiences with a multitude of industries, including high-tech, banking, healthcare, non-profits and higher education.  In more than three decades of consulting and executive education, he has supported organizations on four continents.

In recent years, he has served as a dean of business schools, engineering schools, professional & global education schools, and more recently as a university president. He has led the development of strategy and visioning for colleges, universities and non-profit and large for-profit companies, and has served as a board member for multiple organizations. Before moving to California in 1991 he worked as an army officer, and later as a technology consultant in Europe. 

Dr. Rolland holds a Ph.D. in business administration, and a BS and MS in computer science from The Ohio State University.  He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley’s Executive Leadership Academy. He is also the recipient of prestigious fellowships with organizations such as IBM, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Norwegian Research Council. Dr. Rolland has published more than 100 academic research articles in the areas of information systems, leadership, and strategy.  He was born and raised in Norway and has spent most of his adult life in California.
